TRUCK CRUSHES MOTORCYCLE RIDER TO DEATH IN LAGOS
A commercial biker (Okada rider) and a Dangote truck were involved in a deadly accident early today at Area B, close to Point Road, on their way to Airways, Apapa. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) responded quickly to the scene.
The biker at the site died instantly as a result of the tragic event, which was ascribed to the Dangote truck driver’s careless driving.
The truck driver’s reckless driving caused him to lose control, resulting in the early-morning crash. The motorcycle, who was carrying a female passenger, was struck by the vehicle.
Despite the severity of the collision, LASTMA officials acted swiftly to save the seriously hurt traveler and took her to Apapa General Hospital for immediate medical care.
The truck driver and his helper abandoned the vehicle and ran away. After securing and removing the truck in cooperation with the Area B Police Station, LASTMA officials turned it over to the police for additional examination.
Truck drivers were strongly cautioned by Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of the LASTMA, to respect speed limits and make sure their vehicles have routine maintenance before they are driven.
Additionally, he urged commercial motorcycle riders to avoid using state-wide highways and bridges, which are forbidden routes.
Mr. Bakare-Oki emphasized how crucial it is for all users of the road to strictly follow traffic laws in order to stop other tragedies of this kind.
The General Manager offered his sincere sympathies to the family of the rider who died, and he wished the injured passenger undergoing treatment at Apapa General Hospital a speedy recovery.
