TROOPS AVERT MAJOR FIRE DISASTER FROM FALLEN TANKER IN RIVERS STATE
Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6th Division avoided a massive fire outbreak in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, after a tanker laden with petrol collapsed on the road.
The tanker had crashed at Rumuokwuta Roundabout in the capital city, but the army’s quick response prevented a disaster.
Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, made the announcement in a statement.
He stated that the Acting Commanding Officer of the 760 Transport Battalion, Major Al-Mustapha Shawwal Adams, quickly mobilised troops and led the 6 Division Fire Crew to the location, saving a potential fire.
He stated that the operation was carried out in coordination with sister agencies, with strict adherence to all safety regulations.
The area was roped off, and preventive steps were immediately implemented to ensure no loss of life or property.
“This fire prevention effort underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to civil-military relations and community support,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army’s 6th Division, praised the troops for their quick response.
He promised Rivers State residents that the Division under his leadership would continue to carry out people-centric operations.
