FIRE RAZES LAGOS MARKET, DESTROYS GOODS WORTH MILLIONS
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), has confirmed that a market around Ajah area of the state was engulfed by fire, destroying shops and goods worth millions of naira.
The agency’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, affirmed this in a statement on Monday.
He claims that the Ajah Market by Alesh bus stop in Lekki, Lagos, was the scene of the fire incident on Sunday night.
“On arrival to the incident scene at 22.10hrs, it was discovered that several shops and stores housing combustible materials were engulfed by fire.
“Investigations conducted revealed that the immediate cause of the fire could not yet be ascertained as at the time of writing this report.”
He added that no casualties or injuries were reported at the scene of the incident.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service was able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures, he continued, adding that properties valued at a fortune were lost in the conflagration.
