NEWS: 51-YEAR-OLD AMERICA RETURNEE FOUND DEAD IN OGUN HOTEL
Sunday Abioye, a 51-year-old American returnee, was discovered dead in a hotel room in Sagamu, Ogun State’s Sagamu Local Government Area.
According to reports, his lifeless body was found on Wednesday in his room at the hotel near GRA, Sagamu.
Omolola Odutola, Ogun State’s Police Public Relations Officer, verified this development in a statement released in the state capital of Abeokuta.
She clarified that the incident involving the finding of a deceased customer was reported to the police by the hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Oluwole.

After receiving the report, she added, a team of investigators went to the area and discovered the deceased’s body already in a car outside the hotel, ready for his family to take it to the mortuary.
The deceased’s brother, Jimoh Godday, who lives in Imota, Lagos State, told the police team that his brother had arrived in Nigeria from the United States on Saturday, November 16, 2024, according to the police spokeswoman.
She added that Godday had contacted the hotel on Monday and knocked on room 109, where his brother was staying, but received no answer. He then asked the management for a spare key to enter the room, where they found his brother dead.
“The centre of the bed was soaked with a liquid like substance. A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, confirmed that he accompanied his friend, Sunday to purchase nine different types of medication the previous day due to his complaints of illness.
“The body has since been evacuated to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.
“No known cause of death yet, and the case will be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation,” the police PRO concluded
