EDUCATION DISTRICT II DAZZLES AGAIN AT MATHEMATICS COMPETITIONS
The Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye has commended the brilliant performance displayed by three students of the District at the just concluded King and Queens Mathematic competition, as well as the year 2024 Mathematical Olympiad held on the 5th and 7th of December, 2024 respectively.
The Kings and Queens Mathematics competition, organised by Pearls Angel Educational Consultancy had Master Augustine Rachel from Gbagada Senior Grammar School, Bariga and Adegboye Isaac of Ikorodu Senior High School, Ikorodu, both in Education District II taking the first and second with a cash gift of Two Million Naira and Five Hundred Thousand naira respectively, while Ms. Amadi Debora Onyedikachi of Lanre Awolokun High School clinched the Best Female Mathematician at the Mathematics Olympiad organised by the Lagos Chapter of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria.
The finals of the Kings and Queens Mathematics competition took place at the Multilingual Multi-purpose Hall, Maryland while that of the Mathematics Olympiad was held at Lagos City College, Yaba.
Speaking on the success of the students, Mrs. Adekanye applauded the brilliant performance of the students, adding that the outcome of the contest was a testimony of the hard work, focus and dedication of both the students and their teachers. “This is a confirmation of the hard work and commitment of our teachers as well as the students to achieving academic excellence at all levels.
She further noted that all hands are on deck to make sure that mathematics as a subject is given priority as it has become a mainstay in academic requirements for further studies in the country, and even beyond.
The TG/PS also commended the Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for always placing education on the front burner of his administration, creating a level playground for all children to have access to affordable and quality education while leveraging technology.
She equally commended the efforts of the Teachers and Principals for their commitment to the success of the students in the District.
