PORT HARCOURT REFINERY FULLY OPERATIONAL, LOADING ONGOING, NNPC INSISTS
In response to reports going round that the recently revitalized Port Harcourt Refinery has stopped operations, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has said the 60,000 barrels per day, bpd, Refinery remains fully operational.
Port Harcourt Refinery resumed operations in November 2024 after some years of rehabilitation, thus boosting domestic supply.
Meanwhile, some media reports have it that the operations of the refinery have stopped, leaving tanker drivers stranded.
However, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, denied the information, adding that loading is ongoing.
In his statement, Soneye stated, “The attention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited has been drawn to reports in a section of the media alleging that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago has been shut down.
“We wish to clarify that such reports are totally false as the refinery is fully operational as verified a few days ago by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC.
“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing.”
