TRUCK KILLS ABEOKUTA APPRENTICE IN FATAL ACCIDENT
A truck transporting granite stones tragically ran over and killed a young man named Jelili Soretire on Wednesday along Ajebo Road in Abeokuta.
The Volvo truck, with registration number AAB917ZY, collided with Jelili, an apprentice working in the spare parts section of the Mechanic Village.
Jelili was riding his bike to deliver a repaired car door to a customer when the accident took place.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck struck Jelili at a damaged section of the road near Kemta Housing Estate, close to the Eco Gas Station in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, trapping his body under the vehicle.
It was reported that the truck driver fled the scene right after the crash.
This caused confusion among his colleagues, but officers from the Kemta Police Station managed to restore order.
Jelili’s remains were taken to the morgue at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta.
Attempts to reach the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, were unsuccessful as her phone was turned off when this report was being filed.
