MAN DETAINED FOR MURDERING MOTHER WITH STICK IN C’RIVER
Mathias Amunde, a man from Cross River State, has been detained by the state police for allegedly murdering his mother with a stick in the Obudu Local Government Area.
In a video shared on Instagram by @isaacfayoseoriginal on Monday, the suspect, along with an accomplice, is seen confessing to striking his mother with a stick, dragging her body outside, and disposing of it in a well.
During the police interrogation, the suspect revealed that his accomplice fled after they both discarded the body in the well.
He said in Pidgin (now translated), “I and Walcot killed her. We killed her with a stick. Walcot has gone to his house. After we killed him, Walcot dragged him out of the house and we jointly dragged him to the well.
“After we got to the well, I opened it and we jointly carried her body and threw it into the well.”
Confirming the incident in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Office, Irene Ugbo, noted that the case would be referred to the command’s headquarters for further investigation.
“Yes, he has been arrested. He will be transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation tomorrow (Tuesday),” Ugbo said.
