23-YEAR-OLD MAN HACKS FATHER TO DEATH OVER N5,000 IN DELTA
A 23-year-old man named Success has been taken into custody by the Delta State Police Command for reportedly using a cutlass to kill his father in the Amukpe community in the Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to reports, the event happened at the family’s home after a furious dispute about a financial request.
According to witnesses, the tragedy started when Success asked his father for N5,000 and his father refused to give it to him.
According to an unnamed neighbour, Success has a history of unpredictable behaviour and is a known drug user.
“Everyone in this area knows Success as a drug addict who always misbehaves whenever he has taken those drugs,” the neighbour said.
The account claims that the disagreement turned violent.
Success allegedly snatched up a cutlass in a fit of wrath and severely injured his father.
After being taken to a hospital, the victim passed away from his wounds.
When contacted on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that “Success has already been taken into custody.”
Residents of Amukpe are in shock and dismay following the horrific incident.
Numerous others characterised it as a reminder of the risks associated with substance usage and the significance of attending to mental health concerns.
