SUSPECTED GUNRUNNER NABBED, SUBMACHINE GUN RECOVERED IN TARABA
Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have apprehended a suspected gunrunner, Alhaji Adamu Usman, and recovered a fabricated submachine gun from him.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops swiftly launched a carefully planned operation at the suspect’s residence on January 13 in Maraban Gassol of Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Captain Olubodunde Oni, the acting assistant director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations.
He said during the search, troops discovered one fabricated Submachine Gun, which is believed to be connected to illegal arms trafficking activities.
Speaking on the successful operations, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the troops and reassured the good people of Taraba State of the Brigade’s resolve to continue to maintain peace and combat illicit arms proliferation within the state.
He also called on members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to enable them to effectively address security challenges.
