LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY ACCIDENT CLAIMS FIVE LIVES

A traffic collision on the Lagos/Ibadan Motorway has claimed the lives of five people.

According to Omolola Odutola, a spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, the accident happened on Sunday at approximately 11:30 p.m. close to the Fatgbems Bus Stop.

The collision also injured another passenger.

“The incident was reported by the divisional police officer of Warewa, involving a reckless driver of an unidentified Mercedes Benz SUV,” she said.

Odutola said that the accident took place as the driver was heading towards the Mowe Bus Stop by Longbridge. But the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, crashed into the culvert, and flipped over, landing in the opposite direction.

“As a result, three male and two female adults inside the SUV were confirmed dead, and one passenger sustained injuries. The roof of the vehicle was completely torn off,” the spokesperson added.

“The vehicle was extensively damaged. Traffic police promptly arrived at the scene. Photographs were taken, and the injured individual was transported to AZ Carezone Hospital in Magboro for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were taken to Real Divine Hospital in Ibafo for preservation.”

The police spokesperson said family members of those involved in the fatal incident have been contacted. The command urged road users to exercise caution and drive carefully.
