Riyad Mahrez set for Liverpool medical ahead of £49million switch
LEICESTER CITY winger Riyad Mahrez is set for a medical at Liverpool tomorrow, according to reports.
Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142million this evening and they have now set the wheels in motion to bring in his replacement.
According to beIN Sports, Liverpool will shell out €55million (£49m) to bring Leicester star Mahrez to Anfield.
The 26-year-old was a major part of Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes which shocked the world by winning the Premier League in 2016.
There has been much speculation since that title-winning campaign that Mahrez would leave the club.
And he even came close to joining Arsenal last season but the deal fell through.
Now beIN Sports report that the Algerian is on the verge of a big move and will sign a four-and-a-half year deal on Sunday.
Mahrez has scored eight goals in 26 appearances this season.
And he will be hoping to slot straight into Jurgen Klopp’s ‘Fab Four’ which also includes Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Liverpool have already completed their first bit of business this transfer window by signing Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for £75m.
And if secure Mahrez’s services then it would take their winter spending up to £124m
