Read Time:1 Minute, 27 Second

Less than 24 hours after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting on Monday, President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over another council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Tuesday’s meeting, the second leg of a two-day marathon, commenced at 01:26 p.m. when Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber.

Recall that at the end of the FEC meeting on Monday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had said that the meeting was spilling into the next day due to a long backlog of memos.

“Let me also say that another Federal Executive Council meeting is coming up tomorrow.

“Recall that since December, we’ve not had anyone, so many memos have gathered. And the President is determined to dispense with all of them.

“So we want to say that tomorrow there will be another press briefing after the FEC meeting,” said Idris.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, the President’s Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack and some ministers and ministers of state were present at the second-day meeting at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was among the ministries, departments and agencies presenting memos at the meeting.

On Monday, the council approved N4.8bn for the Presidential Treatment Programme, which will provide 150,000 HIV treatment packs from February to May 2025.

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, told journalists that the resolution followed talks on the implications of recent U.S. policy changes on Nigeria’s health programmes, particularly regarding HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria funding.
