North Korean state media on Wednesday blasted the United States for President Donald Trump’s plan to redevelop the Gaza Strip by taking over the war-ruined territory and resettling residents elsewhere.

“The world is now seething with the U.S. ‘bomb declaration’,” the state-controlled KCNA news agency said on its English language website, without naming Trump.

“The U.S. should awaken from its anachronistic daydream and stop at once the act of encroaching upon the dignity and sovereignty of other countries and nations,” the Pyongyang-based media outlet said.

KCNA wrote that Trump’s comments regarding a takeover of Gaza demonstrate the United States’ “hegemonic and aggressive ambition for world domination,” also pointing to his proposals to make Canada the 51st U.S. state and to take over Greenland.

“The sovereignty, right to self-determination and territorial integrity of the countries and nations can never be a bargaining chip or a mockery of the U.S.,” KCNA said.

In spite of international outrage, Trump has been doubling down on his comments about a Gaza takeover by the U.S. made for the first time last week.

The United Nations said that any forced displacement of people is tantamount to ethnic cleansing.
