
STUDENT DEAD, FOUR INJURED AS CLASSROOM COLLAPSES IN YOBE SCHOOL
One student has been confirmed dead while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a corridor of one block of two classrooms collapsed at Government Girls Science and Technical College Potiskum, Yobe State.
The incident happened at about 12noon on Thursday when the students were about to go for their lunch break.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Bukar Aji, while briefing journalists on the incident, said the injured students of the SSII of the GGSTC Potiskum are receiving medication at Specialist Hospital in Potiskum.
He further explained that the State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has been contacted to investigate the root cause of the incident and report back.
While sympathizing with the family of the deceased students, as well as the injured students, the Permanent Secretary assured them that the government would always be proactive in maintaining all its structures to forestall further occurrence.
