BAUCHI: HUSBAND ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING WIFE OVER FOOD INGREDIENTS
Bauchi State Police Command says it arrested one Nuru Isah, aged 50, who allegedly killed his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, 24.
This was disclosed by the Command’s spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement released on Sunday.
It states that on Saturday, the command was alerted to an alleged culpable homicide incident near Government Girls College, Fadamam Mada Area, Bauchi.
He noted that the event arose from a misunderstanding between one Nuru Isah, aged 50, a businessman at Central Market Bauchi, and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, aged 24, concerning handling food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
Wakil states, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, Nuru Isah, is accused of using a cane to strike his wife, which resulted in her collapsing and becoming unconscious within their matrimonial residence.
“The victim was subsequently transported to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed her death.”
He added that Bauchi State Police Command had initiated a thorough investigation into the incident and has apprehended the suspect, Nuru Isah, saying that the cane purportedly utilised in the assault has been recovered as an exhibit, and the deceased has been placed in the mortuary pending autopsy procedures.
According to the statement, the State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, has assured the public that the commitment to ensuring justice remains a priority for the command.
It reminds the “public that domestic violence constitutes a serious offence with potentially devastating repercussions.”
This is as the command reiterated its “unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens while ensuring that offenders of criminal activities are held accountable.”
