BREAKING: SENATE DISREGARDS NATASHA’S SEXUAL HARASSMENT PETITION
The senator from Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, filed a petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio that bordered on sexual harassment, but it was rejected by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions.
During a probe hearing against Akpoti-Uduaghan before the National Assembly on Wednesday, Senator Neda Imasuen, the Committee’s chairman, made this statement.
Citing a violation of Senate Standing Order 40, the senator from Edo South declared the petition to be “dead on arrival.”
Imasuen claims that the petition was procedurally defective since Akpoti-Uduaghan signed it herself rather than having someone else endorse it.
The Edo legislator pointed out that the petition’s issues were subjudice because they were already before the court.
The committee was supposed to meet, however Akpoti-Uduaghan did not show up for the probe panel.
After waiting for Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate spokesman Yemi Adaramodu, the committee chairman finally arrived at 2:58 pm, delaying the start of the scheduled 2 pm hearing.
At 2:50 pm, Adaramodu finally showed up, but Akpoti-Uduaghan did not attend the hearing.
