TCN RESTORES HUGE POWER SUPPLY TO EKO, IKEJA DISCOS
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has declared that Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies will once again get a regular bulk power supply, which they can then distribute to their clients in Lagos State.
Ndidi Mbah, the TCN Director of Public Affairs, said in a statement on Tuesday that the restoration came after a section of the 330-kilovolt Osogbo-Omotosho transmission line between towers 420 and 422 was successfully repaired.
According to her, the repairs were finished on March 15, 2025, at 8:55 p.m.
Lagos’s electricity supply was severely reduced due to a major fault on the transmission company’s Omotoso-Ikeja west 330 kV transmission line, which was confirmed on March 11.
The transmission line broke between towers 420 and 422 on March 9, the business claimed, causing the state’s bulk electricity supply to dip by about 350 megawatts.
Mbah reported that a line snap was fixed, restarting regular bulk transmission and restoring lost electricity.
She claims that the load shedding brought on by the line cut has ended.
The statement read, “The Transmission Company of Nigeria announces the restoration of normal bulk power supply to Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies for onward distribution to their customers in Lagos State.
“The restoration follows the successful completion of repair works on a part of the 330kV transmission line, between towers 420 to 422 of the Osogbo-Omotosho line, which was completed at 8:55 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The repair addressed a line snap, restoring lost power and resuming normal bulk transmission.
“Consequently, load shedding caused by the line cut has been stopped.
“TCN appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the Lagos State Government, Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies, and electricity consumers in Lagos State during the period of load shedding.”
