COURT REMANDS TWO SUSPECTS OVER ALLEGED MURDER.
Adekunle Isiaka, 55, and Clement Ilesanmi, 65, were placed under detention at a correctional facility on Tuesday by an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on suspicion of murder.
The two were accused of murder and conspiracy; their addresses were not disclosed.
Due to a lack of jurisdiction, the defendants’ plea was not accepted by the magistrate, Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun.
For legal guidance, he instructed the police to send the case file back to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The matter was then postponed until May 5 for mention.
The defendants committed the offenses on March 9 at around 2:00 a.m. in the Owode Academy neighborhood of Ibadan, according to the prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, who testified in court.
He claimed that by assaulting Abiodun Taoreed, 28, with a stick, the defendants had unlawfully caused his death.
Sections 516 and 319 of the Oyo State 2000 Criminal Laws were violated, Lawal continued.
