TRAVELERS STRANDED AS FLOODING INTENSIFIES DUE TO NEGLECTED BRIDGE REPAIRS
The heavy rainfall early Wednesday morning has left travelers stranded in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
This disruption was caused by the long-neglected Namnai Bridge, which remains in poor condition.
The bridge, which collapsed last year, has not received any significant repairs from the relevant authorities, further complicating the situation for motorists and commuters.
Although the state government had previously stated that a contract for its reconstruction had been awarded, no noticeable work had begun at the site by the time of this report.
The downpour has made the route impassable, worsening the already fragile transportation system in the area.
Eyewitnesses have reported that the flooding has severely hindered movement, leaving passengers stranded.
One of the affected travelers, Chichi, described the situation as “the worst.”
Another commuter, Daniel Amos, who claimed to have been stuck for over an hour, called on the government to act quickly and send contractors to the site.
