TWO WOMEN DROWN IN KANO POND
Two women died in a pond in the state’s Gezawa Local Government Area, according to confirmation from the Kano State Fire Service.
Saminu Abdullahi, the service’s public relations officer, said this in a statement released in Kano on Wednesday.
”We received a distress call on Tuesday morning at about 11:15a.m. from a vigilance group at Gezawa that two women had drowned in a pond.
“The relatives of the victims informed the vigilance group that the women worked at a ”Zobo” (Hibiscus) processing company.
“They said that the women had gone to the pond to get themselves up after closing from work and drowned.
“We quickly sent our rescue team to the scene and recovered the corpses from the pond,’ he said.
Musa Garba, a police constable at the Gezawa police division, received the bodies, he claimed.
The PRO cautioned the people against approaching rivers and open waters in order to avoid regrettable mishaps.
