In a bold move to boost grassroots development and uplift the welfare of residents, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA has officially flagged off a week-long commissioning of key infrastructure projects and an empowerment program targeted at over 500 beneficiaries.
Kicking off the series of activities on Monday, the Mayoress led the formal commissioning of two newly completed roads — Oluwaseun Street, Agility and Olanrewaju Street, Orile-Ketu.
These projects mark a significant milestone in the council’s commitment to improving road infrastructure, easing transportation, and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the LCDA.
The commissioning ceremony, attended by political leaders, community stakeholders, and residents, was marked by gratitude and reflection on the strides made by the council under the leadership of the Mayoress, who expressed deep appreciation to Almighty Allah, the President, Lagos State Governor, the State House of Assembly, and the Greater Kosofe leadership for their support.
Addressing the gathering during the commissioning ceremony, the Mayoress emphasized the administration’s determination to continue delivering people-centered projects that directly impact lives and foster community growth. She also highlighted the upcoming empowerment program aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs, artisans, and vulnerable residents with resources to strengthen their businesses and livelihood.
The Mayoress urged residents to maintain public infrastructure and continue cooperating with tax authorities to ensure sustained community development. She assured the people of more visible projects in the coming months as preparations for the 2025 elections gather pace.
She particularly acknowledged the efforts of the GACs led by Otoomba Bushirale Diyosu, the Ecosistere team, and all stakeholders whose collaboration has driven sustainable development in the council. Highlighting the administration’s commitment to empowerment, the Mayoress announced that 500 residents would be empowered as part of the ongoing commissioning activities, underscoring the council’s focus on people-centered governance.
“Promise made is promise kept,” she reiterated, emphasizing the importance of delivering on campaign commitments beyond political rhetoric.
In his remarks, Hon. Saheed, a Lagos State House of Assembly member, commended the Mayoress’ leadership, describing her as “Mrs. Projects” for her unparalleled achievements across sectors including healthcare, education, and public infrastructure. He also highlighted how Lagos State local governments are playing a key role in reducing the infrastructural deficit across Nigeria, in line with the state’s commitment to excellence.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Dr. Jibayo Adeyeye, a former executive chairman of Ikozi-Sheri LCDA, praised the Mayoress’ transformative performance, noting that this was his first public appearance in the area since leaving office a decade ago. He lauded her for continuing the developmental legacy started by her predecessors and wished her continued success.
“This is only the beginning,” she concluded, “I want to do even more for our people — and I trust their continued support.”
The week-long event promises a lineup of impactful initiatives, reflecting the local government’s resolve to bridge infrastructure gaps and promote sustainable development across Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.
