NPFL BANISH NASARAWA UNITED TO GOMBE, N6M FINE IMPOSED
Nasarawa United has been banned from playing at their Lafiya Township Stadium and fined N6 million due to repeated violations of security protocols and fan misconduct.
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) imposed these penalties in response to reports of an assault on Plateau United player Vincent Temitope and an attempted harassment of match officials following their Matchday 33 game against Plateau United.
The club was charged with four offenses, including breaches of Rules B13.52, B13.22, C9, and C11.
For failing to provide adequate security, Nasarawa United was fined N1 million, with an additional N1 million for not ensuring proper conduct among their supporters, violating Rule C9. They were also fined N1 million for the medical expenses of Vincent Temitope, who was assaulted, in breach of Rule C11.
Additionally, the club was fined N3 million for repeatedly violating the NPFL’s rules and regulations, with the further penalty of playing their home games at Pantami Stadium in Gombe instead of Lafiya.
Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, who signed the letter to the club, emphasized that these sanctions reflect the league’s strict zero-tolerance policy for misconduct.
Nasarawa United has 48 hours to either accept the sanctions in writing or request a hearing before a disciplinary panel.
