POLICE GUN DOWN KANO’S MOST WANTED ARMED ROBBER
One of Kano’s most notorious armed robbers, infamous for killing innocent civilians without hesitation, has been shot dead by the Kano Police Special Squad.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, revealed that officers responded to a distress call on April 22, 2025, around 1 pm, concerning a robbery incident led by the suspect, Halifa Baba-Beru, from Gwammaja Quarters in Dala Local Government Area.
Kiyawa said Baba-Beru and his gang were reportedly armed with dangerous weapons and attacking residents in Gwammaja Quarters when police operatives intervened.
He said, “Upon arrival, the police team was attacked by the hoodlums, leading to a fierce fight. Two officers, CPL Abdullahi Ibrahim and S/C Yahaya Saidu, sustained injuries.
“The principal suspect, Baba-Beru, also sustained serious injuries. All parties were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where the suspect died while receiving treatment, and the officers were treated and discharged.”
The police command has investigated the incident and intensified efforts to apprehend the suspect’s accomplices.
“We assure the public that we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice is served,” SP Kiyawa said.
