80-YEAR-OLD COLOMBIAN NATIONAL DISCOVERED DEAD IN LAGOS HOTEL ROOM

An 80-year-old Colombian national, Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, was found dead in his room at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Festac Town, Lagos State.

His body was discovered around 3:45 p.m. on May 1 in Room C85 on the hotel’s 8th floor.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that homicide detectives and other officers were promptly deployed to the scene following a distress call.

Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Alfonso had been staying at the hotel for over four months. Police noted that there were no visible signs of violence or foul play.

The body was moved to the morgue at Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, for preservation and autopsy.

A coroner’s inquest and other legal steps have been initiated.

Some hotel staff were briefly detained for failing to keep accurate guest records but were later released after questioning.

The Lagos Police Command says it is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of death.
