NO PETITION FILED AGAINST HIM – LAWYER PROVIDES UPDATE AFTER VISITING VDM IN EFCC CUSTODY
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has yet to disclose the reason behind the arrest of social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Adeyanju shared this information in a Facebook post on Monday night following his visit to VDM, who is currently in the custody of the anti-corruption agency.
He noted that despite multiple inquiries, the EFCC admitted there was no formal petition filed against the influencer, contrary to earlier reports.

He wrote, “Got into the country this evening and went straight to VDM at EFCC.
“Just left him. We still cannot understand why he was arrested. EFCC said there’s no petition against him after our repeated demand”.
The BBC pidgin had on Monday morning reported that VDM was arrested after a series of petitions against him by some Nigerians.
The medium quoted the spokesperson of the commission, Dele Oyewale but the Commission later denied the report, triggering confusion over circumstances surrounding the arrest and detention.
