The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended a suspected ritualist, Samuel Adewunmi, for allegedly causing serious injury to a two-month-old baby.

The suspect, known locally as Ifa Science, is accused of cutting a portion of flesh from the back of the baby’s head.

This development was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday by the State Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo.

The arrest was reportedly made after a tip-off from the baby’s father, 53-year-old Kola Taiwo. Acting on the report, NSCDC officers swiftly intervened and took Adewunmi into custody. He is currently being questioned by the command’s intelligence and investigations unit.

Ekundayo emphasized that the act constitutes a criminal offence under the state’s laws and assured the public that the suspect will face the full force of justice.

She also urged parents to remain vigilant about their children’s safety and warned that anyone attempting to inflict harm or chaos on others must be prepared to face legal consequences.

The command, she added, remains committed to enforcing the law without compromise.
