The Osun Amotekun Corps has successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Matrix and six 42-inch LG television sets after an armed robbery at a hotel in Ode-Omu.
According to a statement by the Amotekun Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele, on Tuesday, the robbery took place early Saturday morning at a hotel where guests from Lagos were staying for a funeral.
The robbers reportedly fled with a Toyota Matrix valued at N7 million and television sets worth over N3 million.
Omoyele explained that the victims reported the incident to the Amotekun office in Ayedaade Local Government Area, prompting swift action by the operatives to track down the suspects.
The Corps launched a tracking operation that led them to Ogere in Ogun State, where a shootout occurred between the operatives and the criminals. The robbers eventually abandoned the stolen items in a nearby bush.
The Toyota Matrix and the TV sets were recovered with assistance from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogere Unit, which worked closely with Osun Amotekun during the operation.
Omoyele said, “The success of this operation is a clear indication of Amotekun’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens in Osun State.”
Omoyele also commended the FRSC in Ogere for their timely assistance, saying, “We acknowledge the support of the FRSC Ogere Command for their collaboration in achieving this feat.
