By Aishat Momoh. O.
A female official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), identified as Kate Jonathan Akpabio, has been abducted by armed men in the Rantya community of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, May 26, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m., according to security and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development on Tuesday via a post on X.com.
Makama revealed that the suspected gunmen stormed Akpabio’s residence and whisked her away to an undisclosed location before security personnel could intervene.
“Armed hoodlums invaded the residence in Rantya community and abducted one Kate Jonathan Akpabio, a staff member of the FRSC in Jos. Army troops and other security agencies were mobilised to the scene upon receiving the distress call. A preliminary investigation confirmed that the assailants had taken the victim to an unknown destination before security forces arrived,” he stated.
As of press time, the FRSC has yet to officially confirm the incident. When contacted, the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, said he had not received any formal briefing from the sector commander in Plateau State. “I have not got any detail from the sector commander on the incident. If I get the details, I will put it across later,” he told reporters.
Security agencies are said to have launched a search operation in a bid to locate the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
