A tragic incident occurred in Aba, Abia State, on Wednesday afternoon when a large advertising billboard collapsed onto several tricycles carrying passengers, resulting in numerous injuries and leaving some feared dead.
The event happened during a downpour with strong gusts at the Salad Market intersection close to the GIA Event Centre.
The structure collapsed unexpectedly, according to witnesses, pinning the tricycles under its weight.
Emergency responders and local engineers worked together to rescue survivors, however the precise number of fatalities is still unknown as of this writing.
While the bodies of the deceased were reportedly carried to the morgue, a number of injured passengers were immediately rushed to local hospitals for emergency medical attention.
