EX NIGERIA INTERNATIONAL CHINEDU OBASI UNDERGOING TRAILS AT BOLTON
Former Nigeria international Chinedu Obasi scored the lone goal for
Bolton Wanderers U23s to hand them a 1-0 win over their Burnley
counterparts in a youth league game on Friday.
Obasi is on trial with the Championship side, few years after failing
to bag a deal after trials at Sunderland, but this time around he has
done his chances a whole lot of good with the winner he scored last
night.
On as a substitute, it took him few minutes to make his mark with a
well taken drive which ended as the lone goal of the game, and also
the winner for his team in the game which is a test game to see his
level of fitness and abilities.
Last season he had an unhappy spell in China with second division side
Shenzhen during the first half of the season before returning back to
Sweden where he rejoined AIK and scored five times in nine games.
The 31-year-old has had spells with German sides in Hoffenheim and
Schalke 04, but injuries have slowed him down since same issue lead to
his release at Schalke three years ago.
He represented Nigeria at U17, 20 and 23 levels before making the
step up to the senior national team where he made the squad to the
2010 World Cup in South Africa.
With a total of 16 senior national team caps to his name, Bolton
Wanderers will be hoping he proves his self during the trials as they
are in need of a proven goals scorer to ease their relegation worries.
