Residents of Canada will be able to use marijuana without the worry of law enforcement, as the country’s senate has passed a bill legalizing the recreational use of the drug.
Canada becomes the second country to legalize the drug nationwide, following Uruguay in 2013.
The country’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that people will be able to use the drug legally come October 17.
It’s been too easy for our kids to get marijuana – and for criminals to reap the profits. Today, we change that. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate. #PromiseKept

According to ABC News, the legislation allows for people over the age of 18 to carry and use up to 30 grams of dried cannabis in public.
It also allows for residents to cultivate up to four cannabis plants at home, with dried cannabis and cannabis oil set to go on sale later this year.
