Uzoho set to join Elche on loan from Deportivo
Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho has reportedly agreed a
season long loan move to relegated La Liga side Elche.
However the move still need to be ratified by the La Liga after Elche
were thrown out of the top division in Spain as a punishment for not
paying tax debts. A situation which saw them demoted to the second
division despite finishing 13th on the table.
Already they have solved the issue of budgetary control to register
midfielder Manuel Sanchez, who is now eligible to play in their next
game, but despite agreeing a loan deal with Deportivo La Coruna for
Uzoho, the move still need to be approved by the board of the La Liga.
Elche will immediately register Uzoho once they get the green light
from the league body and he will automatically become their first
choice goalkeeper with two youth team shot stoppers set to deputise
for him.
They will discover their fate regarding Uzoho’s registration later
today with the 19 year old who kept goal for Nigeria in Russia 2018
World Cup is also keen on the move as he has been told he would still
remain third choice at Deportivo La Coruna despite his exploits in
Russia.
A move away on a temporary plan will no doubt help him keep his spot
as Nigeria’s number one goalkeeper ahead of the resumption of
qualifiers for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
