Juve forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has dismissed as “fake news” reports of an allegation by a US woman who alleges she was raped by the Portuguese footballer in 2009.
Responding to the allegation via his instagram page in live video, Ronaldo said, “ no, no, no. What they said today? Fake, fake news. They want to promote my name. It’s normal. They want to be famous to say my name, but it is part of the job. I am happy, man and all good.”
Ronaldo’s lawyers however stated that, they will sue Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine, which originally reported the allegations.
In the report, Kathryn Mayorga, a 34-year-old Las Vegas native, had claimed that, she met the player in a Las Vegas nightclub in June 2009.
“Kathryn was sexually assaulted in June 2009 by an individual named Cristiano Ronaldo,” Mayorga’s lawyer, Leslie Mark Stovall, told Der Spiegel. “The purpose of this lawsuit is to hold Cristiano Ronaldo responsible within a civil court of law for the injuries he has caused Kathryn Mayorga and the consequences of those injuries.”
