POLICE, WORKERS CLASH IN ABUJA OVER THE SUSPENSION OF NHIS SECRETARY, USMAN YUSUF
Reports said, Police officers are currently clashing with workers at the head office of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS in Abuja.
The policemen have also escorted Executive Secretary of NHIS, Usman Yusuf, who was suspended last week, into his office.
Yusuf had kicked against his suspension by the NHIS governing board, saying he would resume work on Monday, but the NHIS workers union had threatened to lock him out of office.
As early as about 7am on Monday, the worker’s locked the entrance gate, amid heavy security presence.
Yusuf who arrived at 8:30am, gained entry into the premises with the aid of the policemen and was accompanied to his office. Policemen on ground also teargassed the workers in the ongoing tussle.
