TWO DEAD, 15 RESCUED AS BOAT MISHAP OCCURS AT IKORODU TERMINAL
In the early hours of Wednesday, a 20-passenger ferry boat dubbed “R & N 2” abruptly capsized owing to a mechanical issue less than 200 meters from the port this morning, and submerged shortly after leaving the Ipakodo ferry terminal in the Ikorodu district of Lagos State.
The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWAsearch)’s rescue squad and water guards were called to the scene of the accident, and as a result, 15 people were saved.
Two female passengers who had fallen unconscious were sent to the local hospital for treatment. However, the hospital later pronounced them dead.
As of the time of this news release, the appropriate authorities are presently looking into the Boat Captain while conducting a thorough investigation into the accident’s causes.
