Coach Uche Okagbue was rewarded with a goal after his double substitutes had roles in FC IfeanyiUba’s equalising goal away to Adamawa United on MatchDay 10 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

It was a late goal that denied Adamawa United what could have been their first win of the season after ten games.

Lively captain of the home side, Idris Abubakar scored the only goal for Adamawa after smashing home a brilliant left-footed strike from close range to beat goalkeeper Sharp Uzoigwe into the far post.

Okagbue made his double substitutions deep in to the second half by replacing Ekene Awazie and Nonso Nzediegwu with Uche Onuoha and Christian Molokwu respectively.

The dou were central in the equalising goal as Uche Onuaha produced the spot kick after a harsh tackle on the him inside the box by Isa Garba resulted in a penalty award that Christian Molokwu converted beautifully on 79 minutes.

The two sides came into the fixture on the back of defeats in their previous games, with Adamawa losing 1-0 at Jigawa Golden Stars while FC IfeanyiUbah got beaten by Kano Pillars with the same 1-0 in a home match played in Port Harcourt as a result of television scheduling.

It was the Anambra Warriors striker, Anayo Chukwujekwu who had the first sight at goal with a blast from close range that forced Victor Philemon to produced a save.

But despite this early dominance by the visitors, it was the home side that went to the locker room with a goal advantage courtesy of play maker Idris Abubakar whose long range blast was parried by Sharp Uzoigwe. In his second attempt four minutes later, Idris hit a shot from close range off a lofted delivery from full back Isa Garba.

The home side almost doubled the lead when Idris Abubakar freed Micah Ojodomo who swiftly dispossed by Abel James before he could take aim three minutes from half hour mark.

Adamawa United returned for the second half seemingly determined to grind out their first win, dictating the pace and forcing their opponents to their half.

Zakka Bello, the Coach threw into the gray, Stanley Nnanna and Emmanuel Ibiekwe to strengthen the attack but they failed to produce the most needed result for the maximum points.

It was the trio of Chukwuebuka Okafor, Abel James and Simeon Umeh that did well in the defence for FC IfeanyiUbah to ensure the points were shared.

FC IfeanyiUbah returns to Nnewi to host Katsina United on MatchDay 11 while Adamawa United will make the trip to Lagos for date with the Mountain of Fire and Miracle (MFM FC)  on Sunday 21st February 2021.
