O. Mr Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing, told Lagos residents on Thursday that the reconstruction of the Eko Bridge will be completed quickly. This was said by the Honorable Minister, during an inspection of the bridge work, which he claimed was aimed at safeguarding the safety of residents and traffic users. “Let me thank the people of Lagos, the governor of Lagos, and the Lagos administration once more for their patience and understanding as we close this segment of the bridge for nine weeks beginning June 4th. “The goal is to keep this infrastructure working for us. “This is also a generational endeavor since this bridge hasn’t had this kind of maintenance since around 1975 or thereabouts when it was erected, which is roughly 46 years,” he explained. Fashola, claimed that personnel working beneath and on top of the bridge were employed, and that 37 bridges around the country were being maintained at the same time.
