On Thursday, during an interview with Arise News Anchor Reuben Abati, Tundun Abiola, Arise News Chairman Nduka Obaigbena, and the current head of the editorial board of ThisDay Newspaper, Olusegun Adeniyi, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari addressed some issues such as Insecurity, Twitter Suspension, economy, banditry, IPOB, corruption in Nigeria amongst others. 26155

On Border Closure and Corruption, the president stated that “We are impressed with Nigerians who have gone back to farming, we have made sure that our neighbors especially Niger Republic understand and cooperate with us on this development. He further mentioned that corruption is very difficult under this system. “In this system, doing things with immediate effect is not possible because those who have the money can hire first class lawyers and the cases may take longer years. Despite all this problems, if there are correct intelligence that an official is not accountable, we ease them out.”

The President spoke on banditry, which he claims to be the reason why the administration decided to change Service Chiefs, who were also part of the system during the previous tenure. They have been asked to go round the country and make changes where necessary so as to catch the bandits unaware. He ordered the military to treat Bandits In the language they understand.

However, Buhari, urges all state governors, who have complained about herders and farmers crisis to go back to the old system, where traditional rulers, police, traders and elders meet on a regular basis to discuss and resolve security challenges around them. He also, advised them to take charge of their States in the area of Policing. 39171

Also, on open grazing, the President has asked the Governors to go back to the gazette of the First Republican. ”There are cattle routes and grazing areas, if you allow your cattle stray into any farm, you will be arrested. The problem is, trying to understand the culture of the cattle rears. The Nigerian cattle herders has nothing else apart from machetes and sticks to cut trees for the cattle. The other ones who looks like the Fulani herdsmen we have here in Nigeria, carry AK 47.

On Devolution of Power, the problem is that the local government have been virtually killed because those who become chairmen, have been compromised. 58549

On Suspension of Twitter, the president simply said, “I will keep it to myself”.

He however, spoke on protection of children and schools, including lifting families out of poverty. While mentioned that citizens should try to appreciate the FG’s effort.  

South East Security Crisis, President Buhari, mentioned that “IPOB is like a dot in a circle, if they want to exist, they’ll have no access to anywhere. And the way they are spread all over the country, having business and property, I think IPOB doesn’t know what they are talking about. Anyway, we’ve said we’ll talk to them in the language they understand, we’ll organize the police and military to pursue them, that’s what we can do and we’ll do it.

 The President spoke on what he would be doing after Office, he said “i have not abandoned my farm. When I leave office, I will go back there and continue with the farm. I’ll keep convincing Nigerians that I mean very well, and I want to make sure Security, Economy and Fighting Corruption have visible changes. On security, we’ve done well all over the country.
