For his tireless labor in midfield, N'Golo Kante was named man of the match.

When German forward Kai Havertz scored the Champions League-winning goal for Chelsea against Manchester City on Saturday, he declared he had “worked 15 years” for the moment.

Chelsea won their second European title nine years after defeating Bayern Munich in the final. Havertz’s goal in the 42nd minute was his first for the club in the Champions League.

“I’m at a loss for words; I’ve been waiting a long time. I’ve worked for 15 years to get to this point, and I’m completely overwhelmed “Havertz, who is 21 years old, said BT Sport.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea’s captain, praised the youthful attacker.

“Havertz’s mentality is incredible; this guy is going to be a superstar; he ran like a maniac, which is why he deserves this.” After that Champions League victory in 2012, I moved here. I aspired to repeat my Champions League triumph. It’s incredible. My family has arrived. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.”

N’Golo Kante, the French midfielder who was named man of the match for his tireless performance for Chelsea, expressed his “pleasure and pleasure” after receiving the award.

“It’s incredible,” Kante told French station RMC Sport. “It’s the consequence of a lot of works and challenges throughout the season, but in the end, it’s the labor of a full squad.”

“Today, we struggled, we fought to the bitter end, and we were rewarded with victory.”

He ascribed the European win to the appointment of Thomas Tuchel in January, who replaced the dismissed Frank Lampard after Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League and lost the FA Cup final to Leicester.

He explained, “It was the arrival of a new coach, a change in tactics, and a lot of effort.”
