Football Serie A SPORTS GIST CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN SET TO UNDERGO TESTS TO KNOW IF HE WILL RETURN TO FOOTBALL By Admin Posted on July 29, 2021 2 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Farouq Oduola A. Christian Eriksen will return to Inter Milan for tests next week to determine if he can continue to play for the club. During Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland on June 12, the international fainted on the pitch after suffering a heart arrest. The 29-year-old has an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), and physicians must confirm that he can perform without it before he can return to Serie A. He’ll have medical tests at Inter to see if he’ll be able to compete again at the highest level. Even if things go well, Eriksen is unlikely to play for at least six months, but his return to Italy means he will link up with his Inter teammates in early August. Before travelling to the Euros with Denmark, Eriksen had helped Inter win their first Serie A title since 2010. The former Tottenham midfielder started against Finland but fell late in the first half. He was later resuscitated and transferred to Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet. Eriksen returned home on June 18 after a successful operation after he has had a cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) installed, according to the Danish Football Association. Denmark miraculously recovered from losing their first two group games to reach the knockout stages, where they were finally defeated 2-1 by England in extra time in the semi-finals.
