COVID-19 THIRD WAVE: UNILAG ORDERS STUDENTS TO VACATE CAMPUS PREMISES

Following a spike in confirmed COVID-19 cases among University of Lagos (UNILAG) students in the developing third wave of the pandemic, the university’s administration ordered students to vacate the campus by 2 p.m. today.

Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, vice chancellor, called an emergency meeting of the school’s Senate to discuss the situation.

Some students reported that university officials had told them to leave campus today and that classes would be held online instead.

According to reports, two Students have tested positive for the disease, and the school has increased the implementation of its COVID-19 rules.
The university also acknowledged that the medical center has seen an increase in the number of patients with COVID-19 symptoms in a COVID-19 pandemic update.

As a result, the vice chancellor has called an extraordinary Senate hearing to discuss the school’s third wave of the disease.

The meeting, which is set to take place at the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, is likely to address the necessity for students to vacate their residence halls as well as, the resumption of virtual courses, according to the announcement.
