According to reports, a representative of the club’s management walked up to him while he was still in the dug out after during the half time of an ongoing NPFL game and told him ‘he’s been sacked’, alongsided his coaching team. The team had conceded a goal at home in the first stanza of the game that ended 0-2 against Akwa United. Football analyst Moses Praiz described the development as embarrassing to Nigerian football, “It’s quite embarrassing, they should have waited till the end of the game before sacking the coach and not the PA walking up to the coach and telling him you are fired while the game is going on” The management of Enugu Rangers has now appointed former Super Eagles goalkeeper Sylvanus Okpala their new head coach. Since the start of the new campaign, Enugu Rangers have recorded just a win, one draw and three defeats in their opening five matched and currently sits 15th of the table.
