D’Tigers, Nigeria’s basketball team, was defeated 108-69 by Australia in an exhibition game on Wednesday. The defeat came after the team’s spectacular triumphs against the United States and Argentina. The Australians controlled the game from the start, showcasing grit and technical skill as they ripped the D’Tigers apart. The first quarter concluded with a score of 26-13. In the second quarter, the D’Tigers were unable to regain their footing as Australia continued to dominate. They added 20 points to their lead in the second quarter to finish the game 49-29. The third quarter ended with the Australians still leading Nigeria 84-46, and they finished the game by clocking 100 points to win by 39 points, 108-69. It was Mike Brown’s first loss as D’Tigers coach since taking over in 2020. Since the exhibition began, Australia, the world’s third best basketball team, has yet to lose a game. It was Nigeria’s first loss since the Olympic qualifying games began.
