Kent Police have charged a man for allegedly sharing an offensive video including racist abuse on social media during the Euro 2020 final. Bradford Pretty, 49, of Guildhall Street, Folkestone, has been charged with conveying an extremely offensive, indecent, obscene, or menacing message via the internet. Mr Pretty was arrested on July 13, two days after England’s penalty shootout loss to Italy in the tournament final at Wembley Stadium, but was later released pending further inquiry. The footage was posted online after the game, according to Kent Police, and the force got a referral from the national UK Football Policing Unit when the clip was traced to a Kent address. “We made the decision to charge Pretty after considering a file of information from Kent Police relating to accusations of racial internet abuse during the Euros 2020 final,” CPS senior Crown prosecutor Mark Tavender said. On October 6, Mr Pretty will appear in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court.
