Following yesterday night’s Euro 2020 final at Wembley, Prince William has become the latest individual to speak out against racist abuse directed towards England trio Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford.

After missing their individual penalties in the England’s devastating 3-2 shoot-out loss to Italy, they were targeted for racist hatred on social media.

After Harry Kane and Harry Maguire converted the first two penalties, Rashford hit the crossbar, while Sancho and Saka were denied by Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

England’s players raced to the penalty area to console Saka, who had been denied the opportunity to take the shoot-out to sudden death. He, along with Rashford and Saka, became the latest victims of terrible online abuse.

Now, Prince William, who attended yesterday night’s match with wife Kate and son George, has issued a message on Twitter condemning the perpetrators’ conduct.

“I am sickened by the racial insults directed at England players following last night’s match,” he added.

“It is very unacceptable that athletes be subjected to such heinous behavior.

“It has to come to an end right now, and everyone responsible should be held accountable.”

Following the match last night, the FA issued a statement condemning those responsible for the disgusting hateful remarks.

“We could not be clearer that anyone involved in such nasty behavior is not welcome to follow the team,” they added.

“We will do everything we can to support the players who have been affected while also calling for the harshest penalties possible for those who are responsible.”
