LAGOS STATE UNVEILS MASTERPLAN ON TOURISM

Lagos State Government on Thursday launched its masterplan on Tourism, Arts and Culture, at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.

The event commenced about 10am with the arrival of guests another dignitaries. The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat stood in for the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwolu.

In the welcome address by the Special Adviser of Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture (MTAC), Mr Solomon Bonu; he said one of the major purposes of the master plan and policy is to create job opportunies for up to five hundred (500) youths from the IBILE (IKEJA, BADAGRY, IKORODU, LAGOS ISLAND AND EPE). He noted that the state aims to establish domestic tourism in the local areas to enlighten the community on the importance of art and culture, as well as to provide basic information across the communities. 
 
    

The Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture Short -Term, Mid- Term and long-Term activities projects was narrated by the Honorable Commissioner of Tourist Art and Culture, Pharmacist Uzamot Akinbile-Yussuf

Deputy Governor, Dr Hamzat in his keynote address harped on the importance of Art and Culture and the usefulness of the Master Plan and Policy to the IBILE community and the need for all to embrace it.

Outstanding individuals in the tourism industry in Lagos State were also given special awards. Some of the awardees include the Ace Comedian, Ali Baba, the Goge Africa Crew, Chief Nike Okundaye of Nike Arts and Galleries and others.

A vote of thanks was given by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) in the person of Princess Adenike Adedoyin Ajayi.
