NEWS POLITICAL GIST SECURITY TOURISM IN SPITE OF SECURITY CHALLENGES, THE COUNTRY IS IN SAFE HANDS – LAI MOHAMMED ASSURES NIGERIANS By Admin Posted on May 27, 2021 2 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Lai-Mohammed-HM Despite the current security concerns, Nigerians may rest confident that the country is in good hands, according to Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. The Minister offered the guarantee while receiving the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja on Thursday. He urged officials at all levels to send a message of hope to the people rather than making comments that exacerbate tensions. Alhaji Mohammed emphasized the importance of traditional rulers in maintaining peace and security, saying they cannot and must not be overlooked as the country works to restore peace and security. He urged Oba Ajakaiye to collaborate with his other traditional rulers and the Ekiti State government to maintain the state’s peace and security. In response to the traditional ruler’s request for assistance in putting the town’s tourist attractions on the national and international map, the Minister stated that he would use the media and technology to promote and popularize the historic ‘Esa Cave’ as well as the ‘Okuta Abanijorin’ (the rock that accompany you on your journey), both prominent tourism sites in Iyin-Ekiti, in the Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area. “Putting the tourism attractions on the national and international map would attract tourists, which will enhance the economy of not just Iyin, but the entire state of Ekiti,” he stated. As a result, Alhaji Mohammed requested that the Directors-General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism visit the two tourist sites and report back to him.
