Abdullahi Yusuf, a mechanic, appeared in a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a laptop valued at N40,000. Yusuf, 28, of Nyanya, Abuja, was arrested and accused with theft. On August 22, the defendant broke into the complainant’s shop and stole a laptop valued N40,000, according to the prosecution counsel, Osho Olanrewaju. According to the prosecutor, the offense violated section 287 of the Penal Code. The defendant, on the other hand, has entered a not guilty plea to the charge. The matter was reported to the Nyanya Police Station by the complainant, Lucky Ikpeayan of Nyanya, according to the prosecutor. Mr Inuwa Maiwada, the judge, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in the same amount. The surety must produce identification and a genuine address that the court officials can verify, according to Maiwada. He postponed the case until October 14 for a hearing.
