Sunday Asefon, the President of the NANS, announced this in a statement on Friday morning.

‘NANS Suspends June 12 Protest Over Concerns About Protesters’ Safety And Fear Of Possible Political Hijack – Comrade Sunday Asefon,’ it read.

The planned protest, according to the NANS president, was intended to highlight the country’s insecurity, particularly recurrent student kidnappings. 4466

Asefon, on the other hand, claimed that some politicians with a “different purpose” have developed plans to hijack the rally in order to “ventilate their political beliefs and sentiments.” 7787

He also stated that the students’ body was unaffiliated with the secessionist movement or the upcoming ‘Buhari-must-go’ rally planned by politicians and activists on Saturday.

“The protest has been suspended to avoid a collision of interests and a collision with security agencies, which are on high alert to defend the nation’s infrastructure from security breaches on the suggested date due to a number of other protests scheduled for the same day. 20763
